HAMIlTON SHEEPVENTION RAM SALE

Merrignee Merino Stud has an even team for the 2011 Hamilton Sheepvention Merino Ram sale. The five rams have quality wool with very good figures to match, combining body size and fleece weights with Italian crimp type.
Tag 060 – 16.7 micron, 2.5 SD, 15.0 CV, 99.6% CF is a Brilliant/Tara bred ram showing very stylish crimp with a white bright fleece. This ram stands out for his quality of rich and nourished fleece, good size frame with width between front and back legs, showing good bone and body weight.
Tag 126 – 15.9 micron, 3.2 SD, 20.1 CV, 99.8% CF is a ram by Wurrook Ringmaster through our AI program producing a very good progeny group, with this ram being in the top of that group. A big, strong sire with very good body shape and length, wide between the legs, a strong muzzle and head. He has a heavy cutting fleece of very good style with defined crimp and soft handling bright wool, a very good ram with lots of inherent genetic quality.
Tag 139 – 17.9 micron, 3.3 SD, 18.4 CV, 99.5% CF sired by the stalwart sire at Merrignee, Supreme Monarch 44, this ram is the largest of the group with a heavy cutting fleece and has very good cover down the legs and on the underline, an area of extra income at these prices. He has a high yielding fleece with good crimp and wool style combined with his body size, this sire will increase profit margins in most merino flocks.
Tag 216 – 17.1 micron, 3.4 SD, 19.0 CV, 99.6% CF by Supreme Monarch J2, a sire used for the first time to produce progeny in this drop and due to their success at our property sales they are now an established family.
This ram has good body growth, plenty of length of frame and width between front and back legs. He carries a very stylish fleece with staple length and definition of crimp.
Tag 124 – 17.1 micron, 2.8 SD, 16.4 CV, 99.8% CF a Supreme Monarch 62 sired ram whose sire was used in the stud as a 2 tooth and sold at Canberra GSSM in 2011. A solid ram with good bone and body type, carrying a fleece with high weight in progeny group and with good style, along with excellent staple length.
Annual on-property Ram Sale
The Merrignee 21st Annual on-property Ram Sale will be held on Friday 14th October 2011, at 1pm.

(Only if in attendance and registered by the Buyers before the Auction)
Ninety (90), twelve month old (August-September 2010 drop) rams will be offered, by auction, commencing at 1pm (under cover). Most family lines bred at Merrignee to be offered, from Superfine to Fine to Fine-Medium wool types and bloodlines.
Each ram will have individual fleece figures (taken within 6 weeks of the sale) for micron, S.D., C.V., Spinning Fineness, Bodyweight to be done close to the sale date, and the rams were shorn on 12th April 2011 for the Greasy Fleece Weight percentage.
The Merrignee Sale rams will be able to be previewed on Friday 7th October from 12 noon to 5pm, at Little Range.
This Preview afternoon gives clients and others who are interested in merino sheep (all are welcome) to come along and inspection the Merrignee sale rams at their leisure.
Alternatively, prior to the on-property sale a private inspection of the sale rams can be arranged by appointment with Charlie or Jono.

Merrignee each year participates in the Boorowa Woolfest on the Monday of the long weekend at the beginning of October, we will be setting up a display with about 5 other local merino studs including Koonwarra, in the Landmark wool warehouse. This year will be on Monday 3rd October.
